Associate – Highways

A busy National Consultancy are looking for a Technical Associate to manage the design and delivery of Highways schemes for a range of both public and private sector clients. The successful candidate will need to have good communication skills and have the ability to work in a busy environment, leading project teams.

 

The key responsibilities could include

  • Technical feasibility studies and production of related reports
  • Development of concept solutions for highway infrastructure and drainage projects
  • Preparation of budget construction cost estimates
  • Preparation of fee bids, financial monitoring and performance
  • Development of detailed design solutions in line with current standards and codes
  • Preparation of detailed works information, e.g. drawings, specifications, schedules
  • Production of contract documentation
  • Supporting and mentoring the development of junior team members
  • Contribute to business development and other work winning activity
  • Programme management and resource planning
  • Commercial awareness – including procurement and management of sub-consultants in accordance with company policies
  • Working closely with other disciplines to develop and optimise fully integrated solutions
  • HR responsibility for the team, including absence and sickness management
  • Responsible for Health Safety and Welfare considerations within the team, including designer’s responsibility under the CDM Regulations
  • Responsible for quality of the team’s output, in accordance with the relevant standards and the company QA procedures

 

You will be –

  • A Chartered Engineer –  ICE or CIHT (evidence of working towards CEng status considered)
  • Proven ability to manage delivery of multi- discipline infrastructure projects, including financial forecasting and resource management
  • Detailed knowledge of DMRB, MCDHW and the NEC suite of contracts
  • Enthusiastic and flexible approach to work,  and the ability to work under own initiative leading and inspiring a team of engineers and technicians
  • High standard of written and oral communication and people skills, including demonstrable customer relationship ability
  • Ability to programme and monitor the team’s workload in order to achieve quality, time and financial targets

 

Desirable Requirements:

  • Ability to mentor less experienced team members in the use of highways and drainage design software, including but not limited to MX, Civil 3D, WinDES and AutoCAD.
  • Experienced in the use of business and project management software systems such as the MS Office suite and MS Project
  • Experience of BIM
  • Knowledge of statutory procedures including CPO, SRO &TRO
